Credit Reporting?

I recieve numerous offers from credit card companies all the time. I was wondering if a credit re-builder card (i.e First Premierm %26amp; Continental Finance) would read less on your credit report than a fairly decent lenders Capital One or Chase, are they all equal. Also, what is your beacon score as soon as you turn 18?

Thanks!!

The only difference between a no-name company and a well-known company is whether they actually report to the credit bureau - not all credit cards report. If they don%26#039;t, then you won%26#039;t get a credit boost from them! You should call and ask before applying for anything.

If they try to haul you in on an offer of a $300 card that has $250 in fees and such, don%26#039;t do it, lol. That%26#039;s crazy - no matter what your score, you will find a card that has no fees... might still have a $300 limit, but still no fees. Don%26#039;t pay someone for that credit, you%26#039;ll pay enough in interest.

Your beacon score isn%26#039;t set as soon as you turn 18... you have to build at least 6 mo credit history before you get a score, and that will be determined by your credit line, your balance, and how you pay - if you have a high limit, low balance, and high payments each month... your score will be higher.

And just a lil tip for everyone - the earlier in your billing cycle you pay, the better your score is with that creditor. They have in-house scoring systems that don%26#039;t have anything to do with the bureaus, and they use it to give you offers (like 0% balance transfer promos), approve you for credit limit increases, APR reductions, etc. What I do is send out a payment before the bill even gets to me - I just get the billing info off the previous statement, or off of the internet. Online billing statements are great!
