Company lied about starting pay rate?

So i see a add in a paper for workers at a warehouse owned by a major department store chain (not Wal Mart by the way).

The add said %26quot;Warehouse workers needed 12 dollars a hour starting pay full time%26quot; Being unemployed right now, i figured what the hell i would go for it. Its not the ideal job i want, but its much better than nothing and i have done similar work in the past. So I get the job...GREAT. Only problem is the person interviewing me (he seemed about as friendly as an ice cube) told me i would be starting at 8 dollars a hour and part time, although he would get me as close to 40 hours a week as he can. Also no benefits. Nothing close to what the add in the paper said. This add has ran for months in our job search type newspapers and can even be found on various job search websites. Its ran for so long i know its not a mis-print. No offense, but i was making more than that on unemployment. Should i say something, or should i just be grateful and take what i can get?

This is pretty slimy, so the first question to ask yourself is, %26quot;do I want to work at a place with questionable ethics?%26quot;

If you attempt to report them for this, they will likely say, %26quot;oh, we have jobs available for $12./hour, but this person wasn%26#039;t qualified for THAT job so we offered THIS job instead.%26quot; There is nothing illegal about this bait and switch tactic, unfortunately, and some shady companies use it all the time.

As far as what you do about it, that is your call - if the job is worth $8./hr to you without benefits, or if you want to continue trying to find something better. Good luck.

Tell them to %26#039;take this job and shove it%26#039;.|||All depends on how you value the job. If you wanted to pursue something take the ad into the department of labor or the unemployment office and talk to them. There maybe a catch somewhere that says Starting at $ 12/hr with a certain amount of experience or something similar. And if you have little experience or unverifiable experience there you go....
