Why do pro-war people use the excuse that they needed to take Saddam Huseein out of power as a reaso

There are at least ten dictators alive in the world right now who have killed far more people than Saddam ever did and yet we havent given them a second thought.

1) Omar al-Bashir, Sudan. Age 62. In power since 1989.has killed at least 180,000 civilians in Darfur, driven 2 million people from their homes.

2. Than Shwe, Burma (Myanmar). Age 72. In power since 1992.One hundred shot dead outside a Myanmar school. Activists burned alive at government crematoriums. A Buddhist monk floating face down in a river. This has been happening for years now.

3 Robert Mugabe, Zimbabwe. Age 81. In power since 1980.

Life in Zimbabwe has gone from bad to worse: It has the world’s highest inflation rate, 80% unemployment and an HIV/AIDS rate of more than 20%. Life expectancy has declined since 1988 from 62 to 38 years.

4.Hu Jintao 300,000 political dissidents are held in “reeducation-through-labor” camps without trials. Forced abortions alone add up to more deaths than Saddam ever commited.

Why do pro-war people use the excuse that they needed to take Saddam Huseein out of power as a reason for war?

They are hoping that we all have really bad long-term memory and we%26#039;ll forget about all those %26quot;We don%26#039;t want to be wrong about Iraq and find out about it in a Nuclear Mushroom Cloud%26quot; talk that we heard for like 6 months.... no such luck neocons. I remember, and I%26#039;m sure a lot of other Americans do too.

Why do pro-war people use the excuse that they needed to take Saddam Huseein out of power as a reason for war? loan

because he said he was going to use wmd%26#039;s against america|||The real reasons would be to difficult for the liberals to understand. They are not deep thinkers you know. We need to keep things very simple.|||I agree with you, we need to declare war on all of those countries.|||Saddam has proven himself to be a menace to the world. Right after the 1st gulf war he announced his new %26quot;scorched earth policy%26quot;. He set fire to all the oil wells in Kuwait. He used chemical weapons against his own people on many occassions.

The USA cannot be the worlds policeman and get rid of all the evil dictators in the world. Saddam proved himself to be a menace to the world safety. Isn%26#039;t day to day life somewhat more politically secure now that Saddam is dead? Given enough time, Saddam would have developed nukes if we did not get rid of him.

A better question would be, why do liberals have %26quot;selective memory syndrome%26quot;?|||You still have you freedom don%26#039;t you ?You are not told where you have to work and where you have to go to church|||Because that%26#039;s what their hate-radio overlords tell them to think.|||You just have to pick your battles...|||The others you mentioned don%26#039;t have the oil Saddam had , and we are fighting Israel%26#039;s war , most of the intelligence we had about Iraq was provided by the Israeli mossad . Israeli intelligence sources and political leaders provided an exaggerated assessment of Iraqi capabilities, raising the possibility that the intelligence had been manipulated. Israeli officials frequently told foreign journalists before the war that Israel and the United States were sharing information, particularly regarding Iraqi missiles and non-conventional weapons that could possibly be used against Israel.|||There are no pro-war people.

What there is is strategy.

This is why Iraq and not worse dictators:

See map below. USA (and allies) has Iran neatly sandwiched between Iraq and Afghanistan. Our military presence in Afghanistan covers Pakistan directly to its south and is very close to China.

Look at our strategic position in Iraq. To its north are the Kurds (friends) and Turkey, a NATO Nation which is more or less our friend. To its south is Saudi Arabia. Some issues there but there are deep ties between it and U.S.

Look west of Iraq. Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and the best friend we have in the whole middle east, and the most powerful military force, Israel.

If this were a game of Risk, I%26#039;d say %26quot;taking%26quot; Afghanistan and Iraq puts us in an extremely dominant position covering the entire middle east, which just happens to have a lot of oil, which we need and for which we compete with/against China.

Also, WorldWideJihad has vowed destruction of The West. Americans may have forgotten but our adversaries haven%26#039;t.

So folks, zoom out and look at the strategic big picture.

We%26#039;re not leaving Iraq or Afghanistan. Ever.
