Wisconsin??

Okay, we%26#039;re thinking about moving from the NW suburbs of Chicago to the suburbs of Milwaukee Wisconsin, Pewaukee area to be exact. My husband received a great job offer...just not sure if it%26#039;s a stable move.... I need input...anyone live there?? What are some good areas, good value%26#039;s housing wise?? Raising kids, young families, newer homes, good schools...that sort of thing.... Also...I%26#039;m very concerned as I heard on the news that Wisconsin has very high unemployment rates and more college grads then jobs, is the economy stable there!?

Any and all input from anyone who knows, would be great!

Thanks in advance!!

My husband is in the hospitality business. He runs hotels and restaurants....he%26#039;s been offered a COE position for a restaurant/hotel there.

I%26#039;m not concerned so much with wether or not we can afford it, but rather wether or not it would be a good place to invest...i.e. purchase a home! I%26#039;ve heard a lot about the lack of economy/jobs and the cost of living is high considering....worried about losing the equity we%26#039;d be investing on our home! Any and all help or advice is welcome, esspecially from those who know the area! Thanks!

The economy seems stable enough to me. There are some great companies that are headquartered here. Like any metropolitan area--including Chicago--there are problems, but Pewaukee isn%26#039;t in the city. It%26#039;s a suburb to the west of Milwaukee and there are several suburbs--quite affluent ones--between Pewaukee and the Milwaukee County line.

I assume you%26#039;ve visited Pewaukee and you%26#039;ve seen what life is like there--the lake, the schools, the people. It%26#039;s a great place to raise kids--most places in Wisconsin are. Cities here are usually on lists of the top places to raise a family, with Sheboygan (to the north) and Madison (to the west) named most often.

For children, there are many kinds of resources so you don%26#039;t have to feel that by moving them away from a bigger metropolis you are condemning them to live like hicks. Music, drama, athletic, and cultural organizations such as ethnic dance groups can suppliment more community based activities and just hanging out.

The tourism business is very strong in Wisconsin and people who live here also like to have a good time.

I think it%26#039;s a very good place to raise a family. I live in one of those suburbs between Pewaukee and Milwaukee and my children have grown up safe, well-educated, and with experiences I never really thought they could have. Living here lets them know that there%26#039;s a big world out there to explore and the security of living in a safe place lets them develop confidence to go out there and explore it.

loanWell I for one know the principal of the middle school and I know it is a great school system. Pewaukee is a little older than the nearby brookfield, but it is very established and has some big city amenties, without the big city problems. You will love it. Report It
