COLUMBIA, S.C. 鈥?John Edwards promises to stand up for American workers in a television ad to begin airing Wednesday in his native South Carolina, the first TV advertising for any of the Democratic presidential candidates.
The ad opens with Edwards walking through the overgrown parking lot of the Seneca textile mill where his father worked.
%26quot;Now it%26#039;s closed, the jobs are gone. For too many, it%26#039;s just about profit and greed. They%26#039;re wrong,%26quot; Edwards says in the 30-second spot that is to air statewide. %26quot;It%26#039;s about the dignity of a job and doing what%26#039;s right for America%26#039;s workers.%26quot;
Edwards also says the country doesn%26#039;t need another president %26quot;that puts wealth above work.%26quot;
%26quot;So, if you%26#039;re ready to stand with me for American jobs and America%26#039;s workers, your time is now,%26quot; says Edwards, who represented North Carolina in the Senate.
Edwards was born in Seneca in South Carolina%26#039;s northwestern corner, and his presidential campaigns in 2004 and now have emphasized that he is the son of a mill worker who through hard work managed to become a successful and wealthy lawyer and politician.
He is the first Democratic presidential candidate to run television ads in South Carolina, where unemployment rates are chronically above the national average.
New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Illinois Sen. Barack Obama have run radio ads.
Edwards won South Carolina%26#039;s Democratic primary in 2004, but a recent poll shows him trailing Clinton and Obama.
In Iowa, meanwhile, Edwards was to begin airing advertisements Tuesday in Iowa focusing on his call to end health benefits for top politicians who don%26#039;t approve a universal health care plan within six months of his taking office.
%26quot;When I%26#039;m president I%26#039;m going to say to members of Congress and members of my administration, including my Cabinet: I%26#039;m glad that you have health care coverage and your family has health care coverage,%26quot; Edwards says in the new spot airing in Iowa. %26quot;But if you don%26#039;t pass universal health care by July of 2009 _ in six months _ I%26#039;m going to use my power as president to take your health care away from you.%26quot;
Is this what it will take to give every American decent health care?car loan
Im feelling that! I heard about the same thing - John Edwards vows to pull health care from congress and other muckety mucks if UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE is not passed within six months of his election to the Presidency.....you go boy!! I might have to change my vote from Hillary to John....
Kaytie and without health coverage....
Is this what it will take to give every American decent health care?

EDWARDS 2008! GIVE %26#039;EM HELL JOHN!|||If you vote and support for socialized medicine You%26#039;re a fool.|||Yes!! Lets all have mandatory government checkups, Mandatory government vaccines. Mandatory government regulated diets, Mandatory government exercise routines, and Mandatory government prescription meds.
Who cares about civil liberties? Edwards%26#039; Health Care enforces Mandatory procedures for all citizens. The government knows what is best for us. We can%26#039;t take care of ourselves. Prescription meds have no known side-effects. Forget about alternative treatments. The government knows what works and what doesn%26#039;t. They are only looking out for our best interest.|||Americans WANT universal health care, which is why it%26#039;s such a big issue in this campaign (and previous ones). I%26#039;m glad Edwards doesn%26#039;t say %26#039;free%26#039; health care because we all know it%26#039;s not -free-, we%26#039;re just arguing about how to pay for it.
I like the idea of Edwards saying if Congress doesn%26#039;t get on the ball he will take -their- health care away (and Congress -does- get free health care). The idea is a good one because it puts the ball in their court. He%26#039;s saying %26#039;I want to implement universal health care, and if I can%26#039;t it will be Congress%26#039;s fault.%26#039;
But you have to consider that a president can%26#039;t take away a benefit from Congress all by himself. And I don%26#039;t see Congress voting to give up their own health care, do you?
So Edwards is making a promise he knows he can%26#039;t keep. And even though I like the goal, I have had enough of presidential candidates doing that, going back to Reagan%26#039;s promise to balance the budget -and- give big tax cuts, and to pass a constitutional amendment, no less, to ban abortion.
Also, now I hope I don%26#039;t sound too cynical, but all the universal health care proposals I%26#039;ve heard from politicians, including GHW Bush, Bill Clinton, and now Hillary Clinton, have the same basis, the have the government buying health insurance for -some- uninsured people from the existing insurance corporations, at their going rate. And this isn%26#039;t what most Americans want. The health insurance industry is one of the biggest campaign contributors, I think they are Hillary%26#039;s -biggest- contributor. So any proposal they make only shores up the existing system, which is riddled with bureaucratic inefficiency, waste and fraud. I haven%26#039;t read about Edwards%26#039; proposal but I wouldn%26#039;t be surprised if it was the same.|||It doesn%26#039;t make sense. He seems to understand the real problem when he says that the president %26quot;that puts wealth above work%26quot; is wrong.
But at the end, he says %26quot;But if you don%26#039;t pass universal health care by July of 2009 _ in six months _ I%26#039;m going to use my power as president to take your health care away from you.%26quot;
He%26#039;s just another socialist trying to make the impossible compulsory by law.
Then try to make ends meet by twisting the value of the money.
Then try to control inflation by regulating markets.
Then try to adjust unemployment by giving health care and unemployment support.
And then do all over again...|||well at least he got his thoughts from the one who needs to win.....HILARY CLINTON...........
