Do they count only those that apply for unemployment benefits or is there another way to count all those that got laid off or quit a job?
How do they measure the unemployed rate?bridge loan
The government only has the information that was given to them. The unemployed information is collected from the number of people who have filed for unemployment services or benefits. They do attempt to correct that figure mathematically by extrapolating the most likely percentage of people who became unemployed but didn%26#039;t claim any benefits (such as those who weren%26#039;t eligible for benefits, or decided to retire from the workforce). It%26#039;s the best approximation.

yes it is the total of those apply for Unemployment / total population...|||Probably the same way they do the Nielson TV ratings during sweeps week .. with one of those lottery type/ commercial popcorn maker type things with coded ping pong balls.
Nah .. they take available data from unemployment claims and plug those numbers into census data for any given region.. and make necessary corrections based on those that are working part time jobs while collecting benefits. college students and those under the age of 18 are taken out of consideration by the census data used.
