Have you seen how the other socialist countries in the world are? HUGE unemployment rates and very high taxes.
Obama supporters: do you really want the USA to become a socialist country?loans uk
They would somehow make it Bush%26#039;s fault.
They constantly call him an idiot yet they give him godlike powers to control everything.
They will be blaming Bush for all of the world%26#039;s ills for years to come.
Even the disastrous affects of socialism.

Have you seen how much people with universal healthcare policies hate universal healthcare policies???
Lets get a universal healthcare policy!|||They call themselves progressives now because Liberal has become a dirty word. They uesd to call themselves liberal because socialist had become a dirty word. They started calling themselves socialist because communist had become a dirty word.
The philosophy hasn%26#039;t changed just the terminology.|||High unemployment, high tax rate.....are you talking about now?|||you mean its not??|||Once these other countries that you speak of 1) adopts every citizen, 2) owns every business, 3) eliminates money, and 4) eliminates class then they would not have these problems.
In case you did not know, this is not a real answer, I agree with you.|||I%26#039;m not an idiot. I%26#039;m going to vote for what is in MY interest just like you are. I%26#039;m not rich, so of course I don%26#039;t care if you pay more tax. Don%26#039;t BS me about socialism %26amp; that crap. You simply want what is to your own advantage and you%26#039;re getting nervous because YOU are looking at harder times ahead while I am looking at better times ahead.|||so say the Capitalist.|||So you were asleep when Bill Clinton was in office then? Or were you in cryo-suspension during the 90s and only woke up just recently?
Which one is closer to the truth? Inquiring minds wanna know cupcake.|||There is not some linear distinction between socialist countries and capitalist countries. There is a spectrum of governments round the world with varying degrees of state funding for various activities and varying amounts of tax being collected from the citizens. America is far from purely capitalist right now.
To a limited extent however you are right. Countries with higher taxes generally have slower growing economics (less incentive for entrepreneurial activity). However this is not always true Venezuela right now is doing pretty well thanks to a high oil price.
However, if you don%26#039;t collect tax then basically the government cannot spend on essential activity such as infrastructure (roads, policing etc) and no defense spending (weak foreign policy). Equally low taxes would reduce education reducing the ability of the nation generate wealth. Therefore some some sensible level of tax is required. In fact if you really want to live in a country without tax or functioning government that you might want to consider moving to Somali ... or even Iraq!
Obama has not been talking about increasing the size of government and can hardly be considered socialist... By contrast Bush administration has massively increased spending (which is classically a left-wing thing to do), however haven%26#039;t increased taxes (a right wing thing to do). The net effect has been an increase in national debt (a stupid thing to do).|||Have you seen the unemployment rates of %26quot;socialist%26quot; Scandinavian countries, particularly Denmark, Norway, and Sweden? Because they%26#039;re all lower than ours.
I am advocating for and against, but it%26#039;s more of a cultural issue. Businesses obviously always favor less government intervention, and an open-market country%26#039;s economy tends to expand at a greater rate than that of a socialist county. But then you see all these standard of living surveys and most people in countries such as France (which does have a rather high unemployment rate, to be fair), Denmark, Norway, and Sweden seem to indicate that these people are very satisfied with life and their societies, in general, are satisfied with sacrificing some of their economic freedom, and the economic growth that%26#039;s usually positively correlated with it, for greater social equality.
That%26#039;s all. A lot of the people of these countries basically say, %26quot;Our economy won%26#039;t grow as quickly as yours, and our overall real GDP per capita will be less, but we are okay with living with less but in a society of greater equality.%26quot;
It%26#039;s a mindset, and the U.S./U.A.E./Hong Kong and other such nations have basically determined that true satisfaction in life can only come when a person fully utilizes his or her talents by contributing some kind of work, and the money that comes with it. %26quot;Socialist%26quot; countries say that the joy of life is living itself, and it%26#039;s not so much for citizens to sacrifice some of their income so that everyone can enjoy their life. Of course, unemployment is never a good thing because the ideal intent of socialist countries is to have everyone work and be paid more equally on a per-hour basis, not for people to drop out of the labor force and leech the benefits.|||It seems to be going that way. Like the poster above said, most people vote for their own self interest. If that means the government is taking care of them then that%26#039;s fine. They don%26#039;t care or even think about where the money that the government hands out is coming from.
