What type of Credit Card to use in England?

I have a Discover Card and A Visa Debit. I figured Visa is prolly always an option but is Discover well offered at locations?

I%26#039;ve traveled a good deal in Europe and never had an issue with either a visa or a mastercard. You can get some travelers checks as well... but you have to pay a commission on top of the lousy exchange rate cause the dollar is tanking right now.

I also tend to use my ATM card there. You should take out a couple hundred at a time rather than a little here or there since your bank will charge you about $5 for transaction.

The plus with using plastic is you get the bank%26#039;s wholesale exchange rate rather than a mark up and commission at an exchange desk.

Also, be sure to contact your credit cards to let them know you are traveling - otherwise they might shut off your card thinking it was stolen... it%26#039;s happened.

Try to get a small packet of pounds before you leave. A AAA office or your bank should be able to help you out with that. It is immensely useful to have a small amount of cash once you hit London.

Visa, it works well everywhere.|||If you%26#039;re worried, go with Visa. You won%26#039;t find anywhere that doesn%26#039;t take your Visa card. I%26#039;m pretty sure I%26#039;ve seen Discover too but I know for sure that Visa is taken everywhere (that%26#039;s why most bank cards are backed by Visa).|||Sometimes it is really tough to use credit cards, try seeing if you can use cashiers checks. Those usually work better. Have a fun trip!|||I was there this past summer. Most places take Visa, many don%26#039;t take discover. Most places (shops %26amp; cash machines) took my Visa debit, some won%26#039;t since its a debit.|||VISA|||Anything with one of the following symbols on it
