citibank has charged me heavily, against the terms on nov 2007. They failed to clarify the charges till date. I stopped payments to this account and the total due now is 99K on my available credit limit of 90K. The total overdue charges and penal charges levied till date is 17K and they are offering a waver of 10K if I settle the amount right now. What do you recommend? further negotiate with the bank for more discounts?

If you are able to settle in a single shot, you can bargain for more than 25% of the total dues depending upon the period you used it and the way your payment performance.

Well first of all to have a credit card with 90k as a limit is very unusual !! I would not settle for that as the other answer said its to much sound like it should be around 1 to 8 cents on the dollar depending on how bad you really want to settle but I would educate myself first by going here http://ftc.gov/credit and if your credit is already shot look here http://www.creditinfocenter.com very good site for help. Gotta give it to you 90k credit card WOW ..
